Australian Work Health and Safety Strategy 2023–2033

Posted on 24 February 2023

Safe Work Australia have issued the following information regarding the Safe Work for All initiative on the release of  the Australian Work Health and Safety Strategy 2023–2033.

A new 10-year national strategy to reduce workplace fatalities, injuries, and illnesses in Australia has been released.

The Australian Work Health and Safety Strategy 2023-2033 has been agreed by all Australian governments and sets an ambitious national vision for work health and safety (WHS) outcomes in Australia – Safe and healthy work for all.

The Strategy is evidence-based with a unifying national goal of reduced worker fatalities, injuries, and illnesses.

It outlines targets to measure progress over the next decade, including a reduction in worker fatalities caused by traumatic injuries by 30%.

The Strategy will guide the work of Safe Work Australia and its Members over the decade, providing a high-level framework for WHS jurisdictions to adapt and align activities and areas of focus.

It will also benefit all those in the WHS system who play a role in realising the national vision, including WHS researchers, experts and practitioners.
