"Ice" or "Meth" manufacture is recognized as a significant public health issue in Victoria, as well as Australia wide.
The issues can be complex and require extensive knowledge of the chemistry and toxicity of a range of chemicals and precursors. In many cases, remediation of laboratory sites requires cleaning of complex mixtures of highly toxic chemicals of unknown purity.
Illegal drug laboratories are found in rental houses or units, apartment's, hotel rooms, and also in private homes.
Currently the Australian Clandestine Drug Laboratory Remediation Guideline, 2011 provide guidance on testing of properties that are suspected of being illegal drug laboratories. As part of the process, the guidelines recommend undertaking a Preliminary Assessment, which involves qualitative and quantative testing for amphetamines, visual inspections, and discussions with the local council and/or police involved in investigations.
HAZCON has access to a range of assessment and analytical techniques and sources NATA accredited laboratories that are able to test to the very low levels specified in the Australian Guidelines.
If positive results are obtained during the Preliminary Assessment, HAZCON can develop a Remediation Action Plan (RAP) which may include; recommendations for cleaning or removal and clearance testing, to ensure that the buildings are fit for re-habitation in the minimum time available.
If you have received a Prohibition Notice under Section 194 of the Public Health and Wellbeing Act 2008 (VIC), or a property you manage has been suspected, we can help to remediate any issues quickly.
