Work Health Safety Officer (WHSO) Training Course Electives

HAZCON is an approved provider of the  Workplace Health & Safety Queensland (WHSQ)  the reintroduced WHSO training course, which is compliant under the Work Health and Safety Act.

Elective Duration: 

  • Construction Elective 3 days
  • Industrial Elective 2 days
  • Services 1 day

Aim: The elective WHSO course will provide workers and/or safety officers with information and knowledge to manage WHS in the workplace. The learning outcomes are specifically aimed at the above electives and include, but not limited to:

  • WHSQ legislative requirements including expectations of Persons' Conducting a Business or Undertaking (PCBU) and Officers;
  • Brief overview of Due Diligence for Officers of the PCBU;
  • Risk Management approach with providing realistic and practicable solutions to persons with management and control;
  • Assist Officers with meeting their obligations with providing an assessment report to the PCBU on an annual basis;
  • Assisting Health and Safety Representatives (HSRs);
  • Incident reporting obligations in accordance with the WHSQ legislation.

Elective Learning Objectives:

  • Depending on the elective/s chosen the student will gain additional knowledge and skills to describe:
  • The WHS legislative framework and its relationship to Safety Officers role;
  • Identifying key parties and their legislative obligations and duties;
  • Identified particular hazards within the chosen industry and manage these risks to demonstrate continuous improvement measures;
  • Effectively consult with HSR's when challenges are identified; and
  • Understand the benefits of reporting.

Certificate:

Upon successful completion, participants will be issued with a Certificate of Authority.
